The night of Friday, July 24th 1998.... Roughly 24 hours since their compatriots, the S.T.A.R.S (Special Tactics and Rescue Service) Bravo team vanished after being deployed into the Arklay Mountains in search of what they believed was a "cannibal-cult" responsible for a series of gruesome abductions and murders of a local hiker group, the S.T.A.R.S Alpha Team prepare for a search and rescue for their sister squad. With some hikers still missing and unaccounted for since vanishing in mid-May, Alpha team is also tasked with carrying on the objectives of the Raccoon Forest Mission; to bring those responsible for the heinous acts to justice. Against a backdrop of rolling thunder and the misty forest, Alpha team combs the dense vegetation of the Arklay mountains for the wreckage of Bravo Team's helicopter... Step into the shoes of former US Air Force airman, Chris Redfield, scouted to join the burgeoning STARS team when it was formed in 1996, and point-man of Alpha squad. A venerated marksman, and having completed many dangerous missions and critical situations, Chris is tough, smart and headstrong - but does he have what it takes to survive the horrors of Arklay? And what has become of Rebecca Chambers, survivor of the previous night's fateful events?
