"ආදිත්‍ය බන්ධු" හෙවත් " සූර්ය වංශික" එනම් සූර්යයාගෙන් පැවත එන මහා රාවණයන් ඉතාම නිරවද්‍යව සූර්යයාගේ ත් පෘථිවියෙත් ඇති සම්බන්ධතාවය මනාව පැහැදිලි කරයි. ඒ ආකාරයට ගත් කල සැබවින්ම සියලු පෘථිවි වාසීන් සූරිය දරුවන් ලෙස සැලකිය හැකිය. බොහෝ දෙනා විශ්වාස කරන්නේ "සිව තාණ්ඩව" යනු ශිව දෙවියන් සතුටු කිරීම සඳහා රචනා කරන ලද ගීතයක් බවයි, නමුත් නිවැරිදි "සිව තාණ්ඩවය" හොඳින් අධ්‍යයනය කළහොත් එය රචනා කර ඇත්තේ සූර්යයා වර්ණනා කිරීම සඳහා බව පැහැදිලිව පෙනේ. පෘථිවි යේ සියලුම මානව ශිෂ්ටාචාරයන් විසින් උපරිම ආධිපත්‍ය ආරෝපණයකින් එකසේ ගෞරව බහුමානය ට පාත්‍ර කොට දේවත්වයෙන් සැලකූ අහසේ පෙනෙන ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨතම වස්තුව සූර්යයාය. සූර්යා සමඟ අන්‍යෝන්‍ය වශයෙන් සම්බන්ධ වී තිබීම මඟින් සූර්ය ග්‍රහ මණ්ඩලයේ ඇති සියලුම ග්‍රහලෝක මෙන්ම මිනිසුන් වාසය කරන මෙම මගුල් සක්වළ හෙවත් පෘථිවිය ද සමෘද්ධිමත් වී තිබේ. වසන්ත, ගිම්හාන, සරත් සහ සිසිර ආදී සුන්දර සෘතුමය කාලගුණික තත්ත්වයන් පහළ කිරීමත්, විශ්වයේ ඈත එපිට සිට ලෝකය වෙත එන උල්කාපාත, ග්‍රහක ආදිය ගැටුම් ඇති නොවන සේ මාර්ගය වෙනතකට හැරවීම මගින් පෘථිවිය ආරක්ෂා කරමින්, ජීවය සඳහා අවැසි බලශක්තිය සපයෙනුයේ සූර්යයා විසිනි. Many believe that the "Siva Thandava" is a hymn written to please the god Siva, but, if studied carefully it is quite evident that it is written in appreciation of the Sun. Thanks to the presence of the Sun, or being mutually connected with the Sun, all the planets in the solar system including this auspicious planet of humans flourish and thrive. Sun is the superior energy source for life, bringing seasonal weather changes and protecting the earth by diverting possible meteoroid collisions coming this way from far across the universe. Having the name "Siva" is not just a proper name, its meaning is "good", and that is the gift granted by the Sun to earthlings. The dance, mentioned in the hymn is the dance of the nature, the forests, mountains, rivers, animals and humans alike to the rhythm of the golden Sun. This ancient hymn carry a strong message about the connection between the man and nature which the modern society appear to have disregarded.
