Co tak naprawdę wydarzyło się w godzinie „W”?

On August 1, 1944, at 5:00 PM in Warsaw, clandestine units of the Home Army began open combat against the German occupiers. However, the insurgent units were ill-prepared for the fight – there was a critical shortage of weapons, only a fraction of the men showed up at assembly points, the soldiers were trained for night attacks, not daytime, and many units had their concentration areas and targets changed at the last minute. The Germans were not surprised; they had an absolute advantage in heavy weapons and were occupying well-fortified positions. The insurgents' attacks essentially ended in failure – no significant targets in the city were captured, and losses amounted to several thousand dead. In this situation, the insurgent forces began to withdraw from Warsaw at dusk.
