Time lapse of 83-day Sequoyah Unit 2 Steam Generator Replacement
During the 83-day outage that began on Oct. 15, 2012, and was completed on Jan. 6 at TVA's Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, four steam generators, each of which weighs about 340 tons, were replaced. The steam generators are massive heat exchangers that generate large volumes of steam to spin a turbine-generator to make electricity. The new steam generators will improve power generation and reduce costs associated with operation and maintenance.
