Shanae - a TAY's story

Jen Lilley and Jason Wayne talk about fostercare, its myths and misconceptions, and their journey into becoming foster and adoptive parents. We meet Shanae, a TAY with a heart of gold that Jen + Jason welcomed into their home and hearts in 2020. Awakening: a recognition, realization, or coming into awareness of something. TAY [transitional age youth] Young people who reach an age that no longer qualifies them for foster care. Sacrifice: to surrender or give up, or permit injury or disadvantage to, for the sake of something else. Compassion: a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.
