I think Japanese food names are really straightforward. "Chawanmushi" is just "steamed in a bowl," "tamago kake gohan" (rice with raw egg on top) is "rice with raw egg on top," and "yakiniku" (grilled meat), right? Compared to that, what do foreign cuisines look like? What the hell is a "hamburger steak"? It's just a "chunk of meat." What's "pasta"? It's just "stylish noodles." Don't be ridiculous, "omurice"? Just call it "tamago futon" (egg futon). Unless this is resolved, the gap between Japanese and foreign national character will never be bridged. I'm glad I was born in Japan. Happily ever after.
