First Peter // Living Stones

What does it mean to be built into something greater than yourself? In his letter, Peter describes the church as living stones being built together into a spiritual house, a house with Jesus as its cornerstone. He is the living foundation on which everything must be built. But there is a temptation to reject that foundation and mix our own concrete; blending Jesus with whatever the world finds more acceptable. It may look solid at first, but a foundation mixed to suit popular opinion will never hold the weight of what God is building. When we build our lives on Christ as he truly is, and serve alongside one another, we become a visible expression of God's presence in the world. A community where every believer has a place, a purpose, and a contribution to make within the body of Christ.
