Anakeesta in Gatlinburg: Worth It for Families? (Honest Take)

Some folks turn their nose up at Gatlinburg. They call it cheesy. Overbuilt. A tourist trap. I’m not one of those people. Like a lot of Tennessee kids, I grew up going to the Smoky Mountains — places like Dollywood, Cades Cove, and Hillbilly Golf. Those trips stuck with me. And now, with kids of my own, I wanted them to feel that same kind of magic. So we took a family trip to Gatlinburg… with just one full day to explore. We chose a place I’d never been: Anakeesta. What we found wasn’t just another attraction — it was something different. A place that slows things down just enough to remind you why people fell in love with the Smokies in the first place. From misty mountain views at AnaVista Tower to riding the Hellbender Mountain Coaster (multiple times), to ducking out of the rain together — this turned into one of those days you know your kids will remember. Gatlinburg has changed. A lot. But somehow… it still feels like Gatlinburg. And Anakeesta might be one of the best places to understand why. ⸻ 🎥 In this video: First impressions of Gatlinburg in 2026 Anakeesta experience (honest review) AnaVista Tower views of the Smokies Hellbender Mountain Coaster reaction Family-friendly things to do in Gatlinburg Why the Smoky Mountains still matter to Tennessee ⸻ If you love Tennessee stories, travel, and places that mean something — you’re in the right spot. 👉 Subscribe for more State & Beale 👉 Share this with someone who loves the Smokies Y’all come on with me. 00:00 INTRO 00:35 Anakeesta Intro 00:49 Driving Into Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg 02:00 Anakeesta’s $100M Renovation 02:35 Ridge Rambler 02:53 At the Top 03:41 AnaVista Tower 05:07 Cloud Nine Cafe 05:34 BirdVenture 05:54 Hellbender Mountain Coaster 06:50 Gift Shop and Rocky Top Tacos 07:24 Gem Mining 07:53 Anakeesta’s Place in Gatlinburg 08:31 Final Thoughts
