For the past fifty years, the chanting of the name of Ram has been going on continuously. It is due to this virtue that the once dense forest has become a famous "Dham" today. It is said that "Karah" is a living symbol of the penance of the three Siddhas. Baba Ramratan Das Maharaj of Patia is a pioneer in making "Karah" a "Dham." Born into a Gurjar family in Jarara village, on the banks of the Sank River, Ratan Singh had a religious inclination from an early age. After his father, Chaturbhuj Singh, passed away in his childhood, he was raised by his mother, Vijay Kunwari. Ratan Singh's heart was not confined to his home. His love for Rama increased after coming into contact with Tapasi Baba, who lived at the Sitaram Temple in Noorabad. At his behest, he began performing penance on the platform in front of the Ram Janaki Temple in Karah. Siddha Baba would sometimes appear in the form of a snake and sometimes a lion and perform his leela (meditation) with him. Due to his years of penance on the platform, he became known as "Patiya Wale Baba." People in this area begin any work with the chanting of "Patiya Wale Baba." On the orders of Bade Maharaj, he established Shri Vijay Raghav Sarkar and, for the first time, conducted a grand yajna at Karah Dham in Samvat 2001. In this yajna, one thousand learned saints, including Siddha saints Shri Haribaba, Udia Baba, and others, participated. The yajna cost two and a half lakh rupees at the time, and from there, "Ramayani Baba Shri Ramdas Ji Karahwale" became famous. It is also believed that when ghee ran short for the yagna, on Baba's orders, water from the Saryu Kund located in the complex was poured into a pan and Malpuas were fried. Later, the same amount of ghee was poured into the Saryu Kund to replenish this water. It is also believed that its water has the power to cure dog bites. The feet of Patiya Wale Baba Ramratan Das Maharaj are regularly worshipped here, and devotees take charanamrit from the feet for success in life and circumambulate the Dham complex to fulfill their wishes. The uninterrupted sequence of Ramkirtan and Ramkatha started by Baba Ramdas has been going on at Karah Dham for 50 years.
