Reverse engineering, modeling from a scanned part, and part cloning—all of this is reverse engineering—a very popular and in-demand service today. In this video, I'll show several methods for designing a solid model from a scan created with a RangeVision Spectrum 3D scanner. The first method involves almost automatic creation of a solid model from a scan. However, the scan must be of perfect quality, otherwise, nothing will work. The second method is surface modeling directly on the scan grid. This is more complicated, but it works just as well. The modeling results can be saved in the universal STEP format and continued in any CAD system.
