Lessons from the Church at Philadelphia! Revelation 3:7-13 records the letter to the church at Philadelphia, a city about 35 miles southeast of Sardis. The church in that city was the youngest and smallest of the seven churches of Revelation 2 and 3. Though the faithful congregation was small in size, our Lord had opened a huge door for them. Here is a church of which Christ heartily approves. Notice the two wonderful things Jesus says about this church: “You have kept my word” and “You have not denied my name.” The first involves holding fast to the words of Jesus.
