While in ordinary reactions, the number of reactants and products is only about 2-3 each, in redox reactions, the number of reactants and products can sometimes reach 4-5. Therefore, balancing redox reactions requires a specific method, as balancing using the usual method often presents difficulties. There are two methods for balancing redox reactions: the oxidation number decrease method, and the ion-electron half-reaction method. In this video, we will discuss the first method first, the oxidation number change (ODC) method. This video will discuss everything in detail, step-by-step, with example problems and explanations.
