COS'È LA VERITÀ E LA BUGIA? - #galimberti #filosofia #verità #bugia #heidegger #nietzsche

🚩JOIN OUR NEW SEVERINO CHANNEL!    / @videotecaemanueleseverino   The question of truth has haunted humanity for millennia, and perhaps for this very reason it continues to elude us. Pontius Pilate, before Christ, utters one of the most tragic sentences in Western history: "What is truth?" He doesn't even wait for an answer. And in that gesture, the condition of modern man seems to have already been foreshadowed: a being immersed in information, opinions, and ideologies, yet increasingly incapable of distinguishing what appears from what is. For the Greeks, truth was "aletheia," disclosure. Heidegger reclaims this word to show that truth is not simply correct information. It is the moment when something emerges from concealment. Lying, then, is not simply telling a lie. It is concealing being. It is distorting reality to the point of making it unrecognizable. Galimberti observes that contemporary society thrives on a gigantic production of images that often replace reality itself. Humans no longer seek truth. They seek emotional confirmation. They seek narratives that protect their psychological identity. This is why many people don't believe the most well-founded ideas, but rather those that are most reassuring or seductive. Nietzsche had already intuited this mechanism when he wrote that "beliefs are more dangerous enemies of truth than lies." The modern lie rarely presents itself as an obvious lie. It takes the form of simplification. The snappy headline. The absolute phrase. Automatic indignation. In the age of technology, truth becomes difficult because it requires time, silence, investigation, and doubt. Everything that the contemporary apparatus tends to eliminate. Even Freud understood that human beings lie first and foremost to themselves. Psychoanalysis was born precisely from the discovery of self-deception. Humans continually construct narratives to protect themselves from what they don't want to see. This is why truth is never merely intellectual. It is also painful. It means recognizing aspects of ourselves that destabilize the image we have constructed. Galimberti often insists that contemporary man experiences a form of nihilism where there is no longer a shared criterion of truth. Everything is relativized, spectacularized, transformed into opinion. But when everything is as good as its opposite, thought collapses. Only the market of interpretations remains. Technology further accelerates this process. Algorithms, social networks, constant communication: each individual is immersed in a narrative bubble that reinforces their beliefs. They no longer seek confrontation with reality, but rather the confirmation of their own psychological group. This is where lies cease to be an exception and become a social structure. Heidegger argued that truth requires exposure to being. It requires the courage to linger in uncertainty. Lies, on the other hand, offer immediate security. They quickly explain everything. They divide the world into good and evil, friends and enemies, right and wrong. Authentic truth is much more disturbing because it is rarely absolutely pure. It contains ambiguity, contradictions, and depth. Galimberti sees this crisis of truth as one of the most radical effects of technological civilization. When thought is replaced by immediate reaction, man gradually loses his connection with philosophical doubt. And undoubtedly, there is no search for truth, only ideological affiliation. Perhaps the most profound difference between truth and lies isn't just about facts. It's about the relationship with reality. Lies seek to bend reality to one's desires. Truth, on the other hand, forces man to transform himself in order to see what is. And this is precisely what makes truth so difficult to bear: it almost never consoles. #galimberti #umbertogalimberti #philosophy #truth #lie #heidegger #nietzsche #freud #nihilism #psychology #thought #criticalthinking #society #technology #modernity #reflections #growth #personalgrowth #humanity #being #aletheia #consciousness #philosopher #contemporaryphilosophy #life #disenchantment #psyche #socialnetwork #communication #inconvenienttruth "Why Does Man Prefer Lies?"
