I’m Working Every Day to Walk the Camino After 17 Years

I’ve wanted to walk the Camino de Santiago for 17 years. I first heard about it when I was 25. I kept saying “one day”… and now I’m 41. This year, I’m finally trying to make it happen. This is Week 1 of my Road to Camino series — the start of my attempt to save £5,000–£6,000 by doing food deliveries, selling things on Vinted/eBay, tracking my earnings, and rebuilding my life around one goal: finally walking the Camino in June 2026. This week did not go to plan. I had poor earnings, mobile signal problems, delivery app issues, no real van life updates, and a lot of frustration. But this is the honest start. No fake success story. No pretending everything is going perfectly. Just the real journey. In this episode: Why I’m doing the Camino after 17 years My weekly savings target Food delivery earnings Vinted/eBay sales Why van life is paused for now My mobile signal problems with O2/Giffgaff Switching to EE The reality of trying to save while doing gig work Week 1 results The goal: Save around £500 per week.
