The battle is said to have taken place in Banepa, where she ultimately defeated the demon — making it a sacred site for her worship. 🎉 Main Events and Celebrations 1. Procession of the Deity (Rath Yatra) A beautiful chariot (rath) carrying the idol of Chandeshwori is pulled through the streets of Banepa by devotees. The procession passes through various parts of the town, accompanied by traditional Newar music, chanting, and festive dance. 2. Traditional Music and Dance Locals perform dhimey, bhusya, and naya khin (Newar musical instruments). There may be masked dances representing gods, goddesses, and demons, depicting the story of Chandeshwori and Chandasur. 3. Animal Sacrifices As part of tantric worship traditions, goats and buffaloes may be sacrificed at the Chandeshwori Temple to honor the goddess and seek her protection. This practice is slowly declining in favor of symbolic offerings. 4. Puja and Rituals Special pujas (worship rituals) are conducted at the Chandeshwori Temple, which is located on the northern edge of Banepa.
