Alex Maltman, Emeritus Professor of Earth Sciences at Aberystwyth University, Wales, UK, gave a seminar at the Barrel Room in San Francisco on vineyard geology. He explained how grape vines grow and interact with the vineyard soil and explored to what extent this may affect the taste of wine.
