Ventilation of a surface-piercing hydrofoil
Multi-phase flow (atmospheric ventilation) on the suction side of a yawed surface-piercing strut. Tests performed at the free-surface cavitation channel at CNR-INSEAN in Rome. Semi-ogive section (symmetric with a circular arc forebody and a rectangular afterbody). The trailing edge is blunt. The chord is 27.9cm (11in) and the immersed depth is 27.9cm. The geometric span of the hydrofoil (dry + immersed) is 91.4 cm (36 in). The strut is yawed at an angle of 12 degrees, at a speed 4.2 m/s, and the video is shot from the low-pressure side.
