Police Arrest Suspect in Lusaka Abduction and Assault Case Lusaka, 29th September 2025 — The Zambia Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with the abduction and assault of a 34-year-old man, identified as Joe Nyondo of Lusaka. According to police, the incident occurred on September 25, 2025, around 13:00 hours at Old Leopards Hill Cemetery during the burial of a Kaunda Square resident. A grey Toyota Quantum, registration number ADF 6524, carrying between 12 and 16 occupants, allegedly stormed the funeral armed with offensive weapons. The attackers are reported to have caused panic among mourners before abducting the victim. Investigations led to the arrest of the driver of the vehicle, identified as Malaki Shadreck Ngeke, 33, of Matero. He was apprehended at Heroes Stadium, where the victim had been taken. The vehicle involved in the incident has since been recovered. Police confirmed that Nyondo sustained injuries during the ordeal. He was issued with a medical report at Mandevu Police Post and later treated at Chipata Level One Hospital. The suspect is currently in custody while a manhunt for his accomplices, who remain at large, is ongoing. Police Assistant Public Relations Officer, Godfrey Chilabi, warned that the law will catch up with all those involved, adding that the Service remains committed to ensuring justice, safety, and security for the public.
