#9 Teaching a Baby to Stand With Weight on his Legs: Physical Therapy for a Child with Down Syndrome
First I want to thank Everett's family for inviting me, a stranger, into their home to help others. Thank you so much. Everett has Down syndrome. He was born almost 2 months premature. He had corrective heart surgery and has a g-tube. He is also absolutely adorable. Join me as I follow Everett over time providing pediatric physical therapy treatment recommendations to help him get stronger, faster, and more mobile. I first met him when he was 11.5 months old. I am so excited to see him grow and change over time. These videos are not to replace in-person physical therapy. Individualized therapy is critical for a child's success. Please do not try these with your child if your child has other risk factors or has skills, strengths, or weaknesses significantly different from Everett. My email address is [email protected]. My website is: www.pediatricPTexercises.com. Please remember, I am unable to provide treatment recommendations for a child I have not personally evaluated. You will need to find a local therapist for recommendations specific to your child. These videos may be more helpful seen in order as I perform easier treatment techniques first. Here is the link to his playlist: • Pediatric Physical Therapy for a Child wit... I also have available 6 children's educational books addressing Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety, and Encopresis and Enuresis. I now also have 3 professional books "Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises for the Hips," "Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises for the Knees, and "Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises for the Ankles." If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Please note: I cannot provide treatment suggestions for a child I have not personally evaluated. I am so honored to have people from all over the world watch my videos. I have reviewed and corrected the closed captions for this video so that you might understand what I am saying even if you don't speak English. I hope the directions below are helpful to you. To turn on Captions, click CC in the bottom or top right corner of the video To choose a different caption language: At the bottom right, click Settings. It looks like a wheel. Click Subtitles/CC. Select a language. If the language isn't listed when you click Subtitles/CC: Click Auto-translate. Select a language. Of course, if the captions are in the way of viewing the details in the video, you can always turn them off in the bottom or top right-hand corner of your video screen.
