Professor Henry Volney - A Life in Education at Sifocol & the Dominica State College

Born in 1952 on Montserrat, BWI, of Anglo-French antecedents, Professor Henry Volney graduated from St. Mary's Academy in the 1960s. He later graduated with a degree in European history and economics from the University of the West Indies. During the period 1977-1979, Professor taught me European history at the Dominica Sixth Form College, where he inspired excellence in the students of my time. A distinguished history student of Professor Volney was Dr. Irving W. Andre, with whom I co-founded Pont Casse Press in 1992. He later became the principal of the Dominica Sixth Form College (Sifocol) and an administrator of the new Dominica State College. Now retired after 49 years of service to tertiary-level education on Dominica, Professor Henry is a past president of the Dominca Bridge Association. At the time of this interview, Professor Volney was organizing the 2026 Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Bridge Competition to be held on Dominica.
