LIRR: Rerouted M9 West Hempstead Branch Train Ride from Grand Central to West Hempstead (Weekend)

Taken on 4/16/23. Footage of rerouted West Hempstead Branch Train 7750, originating from Grand Central to West Hempstead. As part of the Van Wyck Expressway widening project, the bridge carrying the westbound (WB) LIRR Main Line tracks over the Van Wyck Expressway needed to be replaced. For two weekends, the traditional WB tracks were out of service. All WB trains to Manhattan used the eastbound (EB) express track, and all eastbound trains used the EB local track west of Jamaica. Additionally, this meant that all westbound Main Line trains operated express between Mineola or Floral Park and Jamaica, except the Hempstead Branch. At Jamaica, only tracks 4-8 were used for through service, with Manhattan service on tracks 5 and 6. For regularly-scheduled Main Line trains to be able to reach these tracks, they need to switch over the EB express track. All westbound trains to Manhattan made the switch from the WB local to the EB express (Main Line track 3 to 2) around Elmont. Hempstead Branch service was rerouted to Atlantic Terminal, to preserve westbound local service at Queens Village and Hollis. It would access track 4, which only had access to Brooklyn. In its place, West Hempstead Branch service was rerouted from Atlantic Terminal to Grand Central, from Friday evening to early Monday morning. The one exception to this was the 5:41 AM train out of Atlantic Terminal to West Hempstead.
