Stunning Verdict: Ex‑Memphis Cops ACQUITTED in Tyre Nichols Beating Death — Ben Crump Reacts

An all-white jury in Memphis has acquitted three former police officers of all state charges, including second-degree murder in the brutal beating death of Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man. After nearly nine hours of deliberation, the jury found Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, and Justin Smith not guilty on every count. While these three officers were cleared of state charges, they still face years in prison after being convicted on some federal charges last year. Two other officers charged in the case have pleaded guilty and await sentencing. The verdict comes more than two years after Nichols was pulled from his car, pepper-sprayed, tased, and then chased down and beaten by five Black officers just steps from his home. Nichols pleaded for his mother as he was kicked, punched, and struck with a baton. He died three days later from his injuries.
