#repairs #polishing #paintcoatingrepairs We show you how to remove rust chips from your trunk lid using DIY repair technology, meaning sprays and without the use of professional tools. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sequence of operations 1. Wash the trunk lid; 2. Remove rust - sand with sandpaper. In this case, it was enough to immediately sand with P320 grit sandpaper; 3. Remove dirt after sanding - with a cloth and water; 4. Degrease the play area - with a cloth and paint remover; 5. Filler - mix the filler with hardener according to the instructions in another video on the channel; and use a maximum of 3mm in thickness. 6. Pause for 30 minutes; 7. Sand the filler; 8. If after sanding it turns out there's not enough, apply another coat. If it's OK, proceed; 9. Cleaning the repair area - do not touch the filler with a wet cloth. Here, blow it off with air and an antistatic cloth - which we don't use for the base coat!; 10. Polishing the repair area with a magic melamine sponge. In this case, I went around almost the entire hatch; 11. Cleaning all around with a cloth and remover; 12. Priming. First coat; 13. 10-minute break; 14. Second coat; 15. After 15 minutes, remove excess primer with a cloth soaked in nitro. 16. Degreasing - cloth and remover; 17. Sanding the primer - sia Soft P 600 wet. Do this gently; 18. Degreasing - cleaning cloth, remover; 19. Wipe with an antistatic cloth; 20. Applying the base coat. The number of coats is rather insignificant, as long as the color is fully "covered"; 21. Pause for 10 minutes after each coat; 22. After each coat, check for any sticking. To be on the safe side, gently wipe with an antistatic cloth after each coat; 23. Clearcoat - 2 or max. 3 FULL coats. Pause for 10 minutes after each coat. This is the only difficulty in the repair, as the coats are meant to be full (i.e., thick), which creates the risk of streaking. I recommend (if you're not experienced) practicing on a separate area. A few attempts and you'll have it all figured out; 24. Immediately after the last coat of clearcoat, blend the edges of the repair. 25.
