In Memoriam by Raymond Premru for Low Brass Quartet

I thought this performance was very stellar! This piece is originally a trombone quartet piece. For our instrumentation, we decided to replace two voices with euphonium and tuba that added some excellent timbral coloration which highlighted the composition to great effect. The blending of the ensemble was excellent for the balance of such a dynamic piece with many rich and complex harmonies. The juxtaposition of both conical and cylindrical instruments really showcases how timbral blends can be used as a compositional device. I did not record the audio for this, but thought that the performance was well–captured!
