Each one of these appearances tells us something about the time in which it was created, so let's take a look at Batman's first film appearance in a 1943 film serial and follow his career through the 1966 TV show and movie, The Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher franchise and Christopher Noland's Dark Knight Trilogy to see what Batman can tell us about the world around him. Thanks for watching One Hundred Years of Cinema, I will be writing a video essay about at least one film each year from 1915 onward to track the evolution of film over the last century.
