I realize that it may have come off as hypocritical to say that I 100% support adopt dont shop, yet still justify my decision for going with a small hobby breeder. I just wanted to expand on that and say that yes, we should always look to adopt first! it was always my intention to and caused me a lot of pain/arguments that I could not. however, im so in love with coda and dont regret the decision because it just felt so intuitively right when we brought him into our family. I 100% guarantee and promise that I will be adopting so many dogs in the future because I believe in the cause so strongly. a main part of why I was not able to now is because I live with my parents and they are currently more financially responsible for coda. even though he is my personal responsibility, he is the family's pet and their decision to not adopt triumphed my opinion (please keep in mind that im brown so I didnt have much of a say hence the tears shed lol). the hobby breeder that we got coda from was decided on after much research (i cant even begin to tell u how many hours i researched adopting, breeds, etc every single day for 1 year). i also wanted to go with someone who didn't dock tails/dew claws because i dont believe in altering an animal's physiology like that. so after learning so much about dogs/breeds, training, applying to adopt dogs, searching shelters/rescues, after a year, I was so lucky to be able to find a small hobby breeder who really cares for her few pets and doesn't charge for profit. she only has litters at most once a year, if even that, and they are truly just her pets who she keeps indoors unlike many for-profit/business-like breeders who have over 10 dogs that they may keep in a shed/outdoors. I also just wanted to address the veganism part! if you eat meat and support adopting that is totally fine!! you have saved a life and that is not in any way diminished. I stated that I was vegan as a counterargument in case there were people judging me for not adopting because I do consciously choose to save hundreds/thousands of animals in my time being veg/vegan. Unfortunately meat consumption is so normalized that I felt I had to say something about speciesism because I dont believe in judging people for their decisions and it seems hypocritical that people would criticize those that dont adopt when they may be contributing to lost lives as well. again, I dont mean to say this in a judge-y way at all - people's decisions to eat meat and buy or adopt are their business and they may have their own personal reasons. so at the end of the day, I just want to be an advocate for non-judgment but felt I needed to stick up for myself also. I say all this just to foster a productive and empathetic discussion and really wanted to be open and honest about everything cuz at the end of the day, that's when you know you've made the best decision for yourself: when you're honest and authentic about it. I apologize in advance if I said anything offensive and just wanted to share my thoughts in a stream of consciousness sort of way! hope this helps clear up my viewpoint and I just want this to be a fun video for all! thank u so much if you've read this far! comment "coda is cooler than u" if u did!!!! :) #puppy #puppies #igotapuppy #pickingupmypuppy #aussie #miniaussie #toyaussie #australianshepherd #miniaustralianshepherd #toyaustralianshepherd Music: • aesthetic music! • Cute and Fun Background Music Instrumental • Aesthetic/Chill Background Music (No Copyr...
