S-Bahn Hamburg: Bau der Linie S 4 im März 2023

Hamburg: In March of 2023 the first tracks have been laid for the new suburban railway line S4, east of Hasselbrook station, running parallel to Marienthaler Straße. This line is built parallel to the existing railway line between Hamburg and Lübeck. Crossties are stacked at the curve where the suburban line S 1 turns out northward. Tracks have been laid on both sides of the freight bypass line, i.e. also in the direction of Ahrensburg and Lübeck. In this section also catenary wire supports have been erected for the new tracks. From the bridge of Hammer Steindamm you can see that the reversing tracks for suburban trains are still present. At former Wandsbek station you can still see parts of the platform. The platform roof, however, does no longer exist.
