Freedive on HMS Maori, WWII Destroyer, in Valletta, Malta.

HMS Maori is a very popular entry level wreck among divers in Malta. Pros: Location. Shore dive in the capital city. History. It was sunk in the Valletta harbour during WWII. Accessibility. 50m off shore. 8-14m depth. Easily accessible for scuba- and free divers of all levels. Cons: It is in a really bad shape. A real wreck of a wreck! And it seems as if each year it collapses more and more. Visibility. It is located in the mouth of the Marsamxett harbour. So water is obviously not as clear as in the open sea. Traffic: It is in the inlet of the harbour. So there will be boats passing. They rarely pass this close to the Valletta side unless they are dive boats. But be careful and use a signal buoy!
