The new framework aims to strengthen rural employment, livelihood security and sustainable village development by increasing the statutory wage employment guarantee from 100 days to 125 days for every eligible rural household. In this video, we explain the key features of the VB-G RAM G Act, why it is being seen as a major rural development reform, how it seeks to ensure that no eligible rural worker remains without work, and what changes it brings for Gram Panchayats, rural livelihoods, wage payments, durable asset creation, natural resource management, women’s empowerment through Self Help Groups and Viksit Bharat @2047. The Government has also made an interim allocation of ₹95,692.31 crore to States and Union Territories for the seamless nationwide rollout of the Act. Existing e-KYC verified job cards will remain valid until the issuance of new Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Cards, ensuring uninterrupted access to employment and timely wage payments.
