Climb to the Cross at Garron Point, Antrim Coast - Historical N Irish Landscape Scenery

At the foot of an ancient Iron Age defensive earthen fort on high promontory rock overlooking a wide expanse of Irish Sea (circa 90M). This Christian monument is part of the grounds of St Killians College on the Antrim Coastline which has it's own chapel built in 1955 as part of a boys Catholic boarding school. The estate, was owned in the mid 1800's by Frances Anne Vane, Marchioness Of Londonderry where she built the impressive castle-esque mansion, Garron Tower in 1850 for £4000. Her mother was the Countess Of Antrim - Anne Katherine MacDonnell whose descendents live in the family seat of Glenarm Castle. After the cross you can see views out to Scotland's Mull Of Kintyre with it's famous lighthouse.
