Ortha Cosanta for the Wild Ones A Protection Blessing for the Animals I wrote this song and blessing chant initially because I wanted to weave some magick into the heaviness around the appalling mass killing of animals in Australia. It might also have been sparked by a group of brumby supporters who wanted to say goodbye to the brumbies, and I didn’t want to give in to defeat. We know words and intention are magick and powerful. And chants and blessings have been used throughout time, especially by the bards and druids and healers of old. So this was channelled for anyone wanting to send love and protection to all or any animals in trouble. The world is not solid. Nothing is fixed. There are many dimensions, and all beings are sovereign and sacred. In this context, it means we don’t impose our will on them. Every soul has a mission. We can offer to help, and we can respect their choices. Animals living under stress, fear, threat, and grief often have a lower frequency and thus are more vulnerable to accidents and harm. Just like humans. For this reason, I encourage everyone participating in the blessing chant to focus only on love, protection, peace, and possibility. You are simply weaving a protection spell of love and protection for all beings who wish to be held that way. This raises the frequency. It is my understanding that beings with a strong and high life force are more likely to survive situations of potential harm. So hold the highest vision you can. See the animals as strong, calm, hidden, protected, and surrounded by light. This is a practice of love. It’s not about trying to force an outcome or impose our will upon another being. We are simply creating and offering a field of protection, peace, and possibility, which each soul is free to accept in their own way. So part of the magick is to hold only love and invitation in your heart and thoughts. Keep the frequency high. How it Works The chant is short and simple and to be sung on repeat as you gently move your body. As you repeat the chant, I invite you to slow down and enter a different way of seeing. You can speak the chant, sing it,, whisper it, or just dance to it. Repeat it again and again until it becomes a rhythm beneath your thoughts. Hold in your heart the animals who are in danger. This is for all of them. Imagine them surrounded by gentle light, cloaked and hidden from harm. Imagine them stepping safely into the in-between places, the ancient places beyond the reach of predators and human cruelty. See them peaceful, protected, and free. If an animal accepts this protection, may they find safety. If their soul has chosen another path, may they be surrounded by peace, dignity, and grace. Above all, let the blessing chant be an act of love. For love is a thread through everything. May our thoughts be gentle. May our hearts remain open. And may the thread we weave be one of love.
