When Perfect Stops Feeling Beautiful | Artist Vlog on Perfectionism & Letting Go ✨

🌙✨Welcome back to my weekly artist vlog, This week has been all about perfectionism… and learning when to let it go. I’ve always been drawn to details—the curve of a letter, the weight of a line, the imperfect beauty of hand-drawn things. But sometimes that attention turns into something heavier… perfectionism. I’ve been working on turning my own handwriting into a font — something deeply personal because it’s the same lettering I use in my illustrations and throughout The Alchemist’s Oracle deck. The same handwriting that found its way onto every card… and somehow has now sold foreign rights to France, and possibly Italy too, which still feels surreal. But creating a font forced me to ask myself something difficult: How perfect is too perfect? At what point does refining every letter strip away the very magic that made it special in the first place? The more I chased perfection, the more I realised I was losing the quirks—the spilled ink, the haphazard lines, the imperfect details that made it feel like mine. And then, of course, life decided to remind me of the same lesson… through my beloved Beetle, Olive 🚗✨ A small hiccup with the car turned into a full mental spiral of worst-case scenarios—because that’s what perfectionism does. One small thing feels like everything is falling apart. But it wasn’t. It was a quick fix, a simple reminder, and a lesson I probably needed. Sometimes imperfection isn’t failure. Sometimes it’s exactly where the beauty lives. This vlog is about creativity, perfectionism, trusting yourself, and remembering that not everything that flashes red is a crisis. Sometimes… it just needs a small adjustment. And sometimes, your work doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to be yours 🤍 ✨ In This Vlog: 0:04 – Perfectionism and the beauty of details 0:29 – Turning my handwriting into a font 0:44 – My Oracle Deck sold foreign rights 🇫🇷✨ 1:06 – When perfection starts ruining creativity 2:13 – Why the publisher kept the original handwritten text 2:54 – The story behind The Alchemist’s Oracle 3:25 – Realising font design wasn’t for me 4:02 – When the Beetle had a hiccup 🚗 5:07 – Why perfectionism makes everything feel bigger 5:36 – The lesson I’m taking from this week 🌿 Support My Work Shop my artwork and merch: https://www.zoesadler.com/shop Find my 🧩 jigsaw puzzles: https://www.zoesadler.com/puzzles Join my Patreon for exclusive sketches, tutorials, and insider updates:   / zoesadler   Explore my oracle deck, The Alchemist’s Oracle: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alchemists-O...
