Twitter @juangangel The Santurbán Páramo is a natural region located in the Colombian departments of Norte de Santander and Santander, covering an area of approximately 142,000 hectares, between 2,800 and 4,290 meters above sea level. Approximately 72% of the land is located in the Norte de Santander Territory and 28% within the Santander Territory. Within the area, the most notable are the Sisavita Regional Natural Park (12,248 hectares in Norte de Santander), the Santurbán - Salazar de las Palmas Regional Natural Park (19,088 hectares in Norte de Santander), the Paramo de Santùrban Regional Natural Park (11,700 hectares in Santander), the Paramo de Berlín DMI (44,273 hectares shared between Santander and Norte de Santander), and the Northern Lagoon Complex, with a total of 40 lagoons, including the "Paramo de Berlín" (municipalities of Arboledas and Salazar de Las Palmas in Norte de Santander), with a surface area of 39 hectares, making it the largest lagoon in the Santurbán Biogeographic Unit. It includes towns such as Los Bueyes, Pringador, Guerrero, San Pedro, Torrecitas, Salazar, Cáchira, Jurisdicciones, El Páramo, Pescadero, Jordán, Santurbán, Terrecillas, Cunta, Fontibón, Los Puentes, Picachos, Romeral, Monsalve, El Viejo, Tasajera, Arboledas, Cachirí, Tierra Negra, Loma Grande, Ramírez, and Cinera.
