WHAT JOBS CAN YOU GET WITH A MATHEMATICS MAJOR: The Importance of Math for Jobs | Nathan Dalaklis

While we will spend some time addressing the question "what jobs can you get with a mathematics major?" We will approach the question from the angle of what is the importance of math for jobs. Or rather, what qualities does studying mathematics develop that makes math majors attractive to job recruiters. Throughout the video, I will bring up various mathematics major career areas while going over two qualities that make mathematics majors a valuable resource for businesses hiring in the job market. Although it is possible to get a job in any of the fields that are mentioned in this video with a math degree alone, it never hurts to strategize! Math builds a foundation for working in many of these areas, but you can usually become a better candidate for a job in those areas by adding some area-specific experience or knowledge too. I made this video because the value of a mathematics major in the professional world was always something that I struggled with as a kid. It's not that I didn't enjoy math when I was little, I LOVED IT. However, I was always told when I was little that having a solid understanding of mathematics would foreshadow one's success in any one of several careers later on in life, but I didn't really understand why or how mathematics was valuable and I didn't really care because I enjoyed it so much. That was until I had to critically think about it for myself as I went through the job search process and this thought exercise continued on till when I actually started working.
