The Most Overlooked Symptom of Depression

Have you ever snapped at someone you love and immediately wondered, what is actually wrong with me? Or maybe you've spent years being told you're irritable, angry, short-tempered, or just difficult to be around. If this sounds familiar, I want you to know you aren't alone, what you might be experiencing is angry depression. Clinically, we call this irritable depression. It is a very real, recognized presentation of major depressive disorder, and honestly, it's one of the most commonly missed signs that someone is struggling. In today's video, we're breaking down what angry depression actually is, and why anger and depression live so close together in the brain. We'll talk about why this gets overlooked (especially in men and teenagers!), and how you can tell depressive anger apart from grief, a stressful week, or just who you are. I'm also sharing a bit about my own experiences with this, including an irritable outburst I'm really not proud of. I think the only way we can truly understand this is if I'm totally honest about what it actually feels like from the inside out.
