2001 Iowa vs. Miami Ohio
Iowa jumped to a 24-0 halftime advantage on the way to a 44-19 win over Miami of Ohio in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes held the Redhawks to just 26 yards total offense in the first half and built the scoring advantage to 44-0 before Miami scored three times late in the game. Iowa held the ball for over 20 minutes in the first half while totaling 276 yards in the opening two quarters. QB Kyle McCann led the Iowa offense, completing 13-16 passes for 201 yards and four scores. TE Dallas Clark had scoring receptions of 18 and 32 yards, Kahlil Hill had a 52 yard TD catch and Jeremy Allen scored on a 15 yard pass. Hill led all receivers with six catches for 94 yards while Clark had 74 yards on four receptions. McCann, a senior, was named the Big Ten's Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts. His four touchdown passes were a career high for the Creston native. The Iowa defense came up with two interceptions and a fumble recovery while recording five quarterback sacks. Chris Smith returned an interception 33 yards for a score and DE Aaron Kampman had his second interception of the season. Derrick Pickins recorded seven tackles, including four tackles for loss and two sacks. Kampman recorded two sacks as well.
