CYCLING 100 MILES IN THE FLORIDA KEYS | Key West Century Ride

In early November, as Hurricane Nicole narrowed in on South Florida, four friends and I cycled 100 miles from Key West to Key Largo. More specifically, we biked to Tavernier (where we were staying). After last years North Nest Key kayak trip, we knew we needed to return to the keys for another adventure. These trips, and our athletic journey over the last few years, have been inspired by David Goggins book Can't Hurt Me. As a result, we work out frequently, and these trips are a sort of progress report to see how far we've come. Next year's trip has not been planned, although we're considering doing a backpacking trip out west. The Florida Keys is an archipelago that stretches from Miami to Key west and beyond. Aside from the natural beauty of these islands, the bridges, history, and unique animals in the Keys are well worth visiting! On the 7 mile bridge, as a storm chased us, Phil's bike chain broke, and he got a flat tire. Hailey helped him get back running and he rode his bike the entire seven mile bridge with a flat tire. Taylor's bike also got a flat, and she rode it for 20+ miles this way. Eventually the girls traded off riding on this disabled bike. We could have tried to change the tube on this tire, but the tire was damaged already and I feared taking off the tire would render it unusable. https://tropic.ssec.wisc.edu/real-tim...
