This is a fight where you must beat the phantoms of Aelfric, or the boss will regen. On top of hitting extremely hard he also does a party wide AoE. For some reason, some units will get the ability to counter at any distance which is cool. Put simply, stand your ground against the Umbral Beast, and stand strong.
