I Trained at an ELITE Padel Academy in Madrid - This is What I Learnt

Today I got access to a professional padel training session at one of the top academies in Madrid. I trained alongside Miki, who plays first division in Madrid, and against Fran and Aidan, two 16-year-olds who compete together in FIP tournaments. The coaches from the academy, including Lucas, ran the full session and let me join in. What were we working on? The lob. The shot that many pro academies train twice a week and that most amateur players completely underestimate. We covered three different movement patterns for the forehand lob, how to play the globo pinchado and why it can only go crosscourt, what to do when you are falling backwards, and a lob combined with a volley that is characteristic of Lebrón's game. Lucas also gave me a tip during the session that actually made a real difference in the tie break at the end: when playing the quick lob down the line, push the ball further to take time away from the opponent. Against players this fast, that detail matters. At the end of the session I faced Fran and Aidan in a tie break. These kids train every single day. I had one session to catch up. It was close. Let us know in the comments if you want to see more of this type of content, we want to come back to Madrid and train in more pro academies. Maybe next time Lebrón and Augsburger will be there. ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS 0:00 - Intro 0:17 - Arriving at the club and first impressions 1:18 - Technical work on the most important shot in padel 2:02 - How to play the globo pinchado 3:08 - How to play when you are falling backwards 4:10 - Lob with a volley 4:43 - Game situation exercise 6:56 - Tiebreak vs the pro players 🎾 Online Shop → https://padeldrivers.com/
