This is the first episode of our unique tour of Spain on an electric bike. We decided to travel by bike after years without riding one, so if we wanted to have even the slightest chance of success, we had to try it with electric bikes. The first thing we did was contact #Engwe to see if they'd be willing to join us on a tour of Spain, and after receiving a positive review, we immediately started planning everything. A few Amazon orders, a few trips to Decathlon, and we were ready to go. Since we weren't sure where to go, we decided to follow a pre-established route (or so we thought), the Eurovelo 8. We chose a Monday morning to begin the adventure, and at 10 a.m. we left Valencia with the intention of reaching Alcoy, Alicante (a very optimistic thought on our part), but which obviously didn't work out xD From the moment we left Valencia, we began to realize that things weren't going to be as easy as we thought. Within 20 minutes of leaving, we were already lost, and the climbs were very difficult to manage with the bikes as loaded as we were. Adding to the fatigue of the first day was an unexpected downpour that caught us literally in the middle of nowhere with nowhere to take shelter, so we had to cover ourselves with bike covers. Seeing that the storm seemed likely to continue and that we had already gotten wet, we decided to spend the night at a campsite on Gandía beach. Setting up the tent was also a struggle because it had been a long time since we'd set one up, and after all the exhaustion, we still had to get back on the bike to go buy dinner, something we learned is impossible because once you get off the bike, your butt won't let you get back on. After showering and eating a pre-made omelet, we were exhausted by 9:30 PM and went to sleep.
