Rockers for the USA (Official Lyric Video)
"Rockers for the USA" is the newest patriotic rock song from the Dr. Donny "Rocker" Band, which was written to coincide with the opening day of Freedom 250. This is a real rockin' song we worked very hard on to get written, performed, and recorded in time for the start of Freedom 250, plus this rock song was a major challenge to write… A goal in this highly musical and very creative song was to cover five decades in the career of one rock band playing patriotic rock music and to accomplish that span of time in a single song. This meant not only writing lyrics that give a snapshot of the 1960's and 70's and 80's and 90's and first decade of the new millennium (from the perspective of the band), but to also create a blend of rockin' music that contains some of the essence of those 50 years all wrapped into the sound of one song. This is perhaps the most difficult song we've created to date but one that we hope you'll love as much as we do. So, enjoy the music, enjoy the message, enjoy the nostalgia, and enjoy Freedom 250 courtesy of the America 250 Band @America250Band . Rock on America! ROCKERS FOR THE USA (Song Lyrics, Music and Arrangement by Dr. Donny "Rocker" Deever) [Intro] Turn it up, yeah, way, way up… from a garage band to arenas, from back roads to rock stars, America… we'll never leave ya! [Verse 1] Sixty-something, radio glow, old tube TV, and rebel souls, kids with guitars, basement bands, magic chords to promised lands. Peace signs, denim, summer parades, swing on the porch and songs we made— Patriots bred in each small town turned up the amps and shook the ground. [Pre-Chorus] Aw… the decade kept on rolling, but the fire never died— Each passing generation let Old Glory wave on high. [Chorus] We’re rockers for the U.S.A., hearts loud as amplifiers, we light the night like July the Fourth with six-string souls on fire. Yeah, rockers for America… from the sea to open plains, different decades, same old oath— To sing out freedom’s name. [Post-Chorus] Hey! Hey! U.S.A.! Yeah! Crank it to the edge! Red, white, and rock and roll— Let the whole world hear our pledge! [Verse 2] Seventy-something, on the road, white highway lines and band gear stowed, crushed cans in vans, boots in the dust, songs about home and those we trust. Arena lights, mid night encores, blue jeans, backbeats, so much more— From heartland bars to county fairs, we found our voice in open air. [Verse 3] Eighty-something, neon flame, leather jackets, punky names, big drum thunder, keyboard cries, fireworks over ballpark skies. We sang for dreamers, fancy free, for every kid who cherished “WE”— With fists in the air and chorus wide, we played it loud with U.S. pride. [Pre-Chorus 2] Yeah… sounds kept a changing, but the truth stayed strong, a nation full of differences— But together… one great song! [Chorus] We’re rockers for the U.S.A., hearts loud as amplifiers, we light the night like July the Fourth, with six-string souls on fire. Yeah, rockers for America… deserts dry to tropic rains, five full decades, one true pledge— To sing out freedom’s name. [Verse 4] Nineties came with rowdy crowds, raw guitars and truths tuned loud, flannel dreams, a restless beat, finding hope on broken streets. A new millennium hit the scene… fast drums, bright hooks, gasoline, snowboard winters, cell-phone lights— As we cheered the Bill of Rights through concert nights. [Bridge] From vinyl spinning in bedrooms to streaming tunes in cars, from soldiers' headphones overseas to kids with air guitars. We argue, sure, and sometimes fumble, we lose our way but seldom stumble, cause when the anthem blasts with power— We'll always know which stars are ours. [Breakdown] Sixties! Seventies! Eighties! Nineties! Two-thousands! From coastal flats to soaring mountains! Still loud! Still proud! No comparison— Pure American! [Final Chorus] We’re rockers for the U.S.A., hearts loud as amplifiers, we light the night like July the Fourth, with six-string souls on fire. Yeah, rockers for America… big cities to country lanes, different decades, one true pledge— To still sing freedom’s name. [Final Tag] Turn it up for the ones who gave… turn it up for the free and brave… turn it up till the whole sky knows… America rocks! And our spirits still roll! [Outro] Rockers for the U.S.A., Rockers for America. Red, white, and rock and roll— America… we sing you our souls!
