75 packets of brown sugar, a motorcycle, and four mobile phones recovered; major police action in two separate cases Chakradharpur: As part of the West Singhbhum Police's ongoing anti-drug campaign, Chakradharpur Police has achieved a major success, busting an organized brown sugar smuggling syndicate. Under the direction of the Superintendent of Police, a total of five smugglers were arrested in two separate raids conducted on July 8th. A total of 75 packets (approximately 16.75 grams) of brown sugar, a TVS Radian motorcycle, and four mobile phones were recovered from them. The first operation was carried out in Purana Basti under Chakradharpur Police Station Case No. 76/26. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dr. Syed Mustafa Hashmi raided the area and apprehended Shekhar Suman Sahu and Shubham Varman, who were trying to escape. During the search, 11.1 grams (40 packets) of brown sugar was recovered from Shekhar and 2 grams (10 packets) from Shubham. Meanwhile, Asif Sheikh alias Bangla, a customer who had come to purchase brown sugar, was also arrested. Police also seized a TVS Radian motorcycle from the scene, which the two accused had used to purchase brown sugar from Jamshedpur. The same day, a second operation was carried out in the Porterkholi area under Chakradharpur Police Station Case No. 77/26. Information was received that two youths were selling brown sugar. Police surrounded the area and arrested Abhishek Pramanik alias Anda and Mukesh Ram Ravi alias Bamba. During the search, 3.5 grams (24 packets) of brown sugar were recovered from Abhishek, 0.15 grams (1 packet) of brown sugar, and a mobile phone were recovered from Mukesh. During interrogation, the accused admitted to being connected and running an organized illegal business of buying and selling brown sugar in Chakradharpur. The police are now engaged in searching for their network and other smugglers. The raiding team included Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dr. Syed Mustafa Hashmi, Police Station Incharge Awadhesh Kumar, Police Sub-Inspector Akash Kumar, Ranjit Oraon, Rajkishore Tiwari, Assistant Sub-Inspector Birbal Choubey, Dilip Kumar and other policemen. West Singhbhum Police has appealed to the general public to immediately inform the nearest police station, Dial-112 or the Police Control Room mobile number 9931422251 about drug trafficking or any criminal activity. The identity of the informant will be kept completely confidential.
