Cre8audio East Beast and Pittsburgh Modular SV-1 - a comparison that did not work, FAIL!!!

I wanted to make a comparison between Crea8audio's East Beast and Pittsburgh Modular's SV-1. And yeah, it worked not quite well in the end. I made a lot of mistakes and did not do enough research before, but the biggest mistake I made was the topic itself. It is, of course, interesting to compare the two and I learned a lot in the process, but it is simply not necessary. Maybe necessary isn't the right word. I wanted to find differences, in part because I wanted to justify myself in buying the East Beast after already owning a SV-1, so I was biased from the beginning. So I can't say this comparison is objective, even if I tried hard to be. The other thing that made it fail is simply the philosophy of Pittsburgh Modular. They build instruments, as they call them, and not simply modules. They often have the same heart, but are always developed further, they put a lot of effort into ergonomics and how to use/play their instruments. A simple comparison of the sound is completely missing the point. They're completely different devices with different goals to achieve and I missed that point completely. If you're still interested, please watch the video. There are, of course, interesting facts and differences I found out and at the end there is a longer monologue about the failure of this video where I go deeper into the problems. my newest album https://frankrottmann.bandcamp.com/al... https://open.spotify.com/album/7a9xiY...   / abell-85   instagram:   / abell85studios     / spaceperson16   00:00 - Intro 03:55 - OSC Sine Wave 05:51 - OSC Triangle Wave 07:53 - OSC Saw Wave 08:50 - OSC Square Wave & PWM 14:45 - OSC conclusion 15:41 - OSC combined waveforms on East Beast 17:53 - OSC recreating Sine & Saw combo on the SV-1 with Flamingo 23:47 - OSC recreating Sine & Square combo on the SV-1 (FAIL) 24:38 - OSC recreating Sine & Saw combo on the SV-1 with Flamingo (FAIL) 25:02 - OSC recreating Saw & square combo on the SV-1 (FAIL) 25:21 - FILT Gain Staging/Volume mystery or user error??!! 27:57 - FILT introducing the filter's similarities and differences 30:03 - FILT actual testing a saw wave through Low Pass 32:52 - FILT switching the inputs - messing up the testing and first questioning the reason of the test itself 37:00 - FILT conclusion about saw through the Low Pass 39:57 - FILT square wave through Low Pass 42:16 - FILT conclusion square wave through Low Pass 42:48 - FAIL stopping the experiment and comparison, explanation why and jamming in the background
