Changing Brass: A social history of brass bands, part one
Changing Brass is a social history of brass bands which was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in November 2001. Part one deals with the period from about 1830 to 1900. A lot of the information will be known to anyone who has read Trevor Herbert's and Dave Russell's books on brass band history but it's still an entertaining listen. Contributors: Stephen Cobb, Vic Gammon, Trevor Herbert and Dave Russell. Presented by Peter Stead. You can find part two of this series elsewhere in this playlist. The programme contains one glaring anomaly - see if you can spot it!
