NR 86 with the eastbound Indian Pacific, travels slowly through Midland Train Station. 6.10.2024.

The Indian Pacific, proceeds east through Midland train station No.1 platform, consist length 27 carriages. Bound for Sydney, via Adelaide. Sunday 6 October 2024 at 10:26 hrs. In view, is the temporary platform structure, still being built. To be used for Transwa Regional railcar services. As also through line for the passing of the Indian Pacific passenger train, to and from East Perth Terminal. So what will happen very soon. Is that the line on platform 1 at Midand Station, will be removed. And then be relocated on the alignment where the temporary Transwa railcar stopping platform is. This will remove the dog leg curve from and onto the dual gauge freight lines. As also extending the suburban lines to the new Midland train station. Which is just a mere 150 metres or so away. Plus new track works with overhead wiring, being built to connect into Bellevue Railcar Facility. The current Midland train station, will be demolished. And a new Bus Terminal built, in it's place, to handle 12 bus stop stands. Once the new Midland train station is in operation. Metronet's overall development project, being carried out in changeover stages. To avoid minimal disruption.
