Comstock Cage Trap Trigger Wire Modification | A Little Bend = Fewer Misses
Here is a simple tip to make a great trap a little better. A slight bend in the trigger wires by the wire studs holds them on more snugly. This results in fewer animals moving the wire off the stud prior to triggering the trap. This means less misses because zero misses is the desired goal. Watch to visualize. The wires are designed to come on and off pretty easily so they can be replaced. Slip offs are safer for animals in the trap and the animals don't mangle them. This makes them reusable.. Slip-off triggers are preferrable to fixed trigger wires for sure. The slip on nature of the wires was an improvement over a fixed trigger wire original to the trap. This mod just makes them a little more snug which has the advantage Ryan discusses. 00:00 Introduction 00:45 The Normal Pop On Trigger 01:21 The Issue We've Found 02:22 A Small Modification 04:31 Trying to Get 100% Catch Rate 05:28 Setting Off Trap 05:41 Final Thoughts
