Introducing DRAGONFLY CLOUD (2020)
Hosted by Mike Marsh, Dragonfly Product Manager at ORS Download and Get Started with Dragonfly https://www.theobjects.com/dragonfly/... This tutorial introduces users how to login and work with Dragonfly Cloud Watch the Playlist with all of the Dragonfly Daily tutorials on YouTube http://orss.ca/ytp2 Topics in this tutorial -Workstation, Viz Server, Cloud, HPC -Pros of Cloud Computing Flexibility (scalable and elastic), Reliability, Economics (pay for what you use ), System Requirements (keyboard, mouse, web-browser), Accessibility (is there a cloud datacenter near you?) Cons of Cloud Computing -Budget forecasting -Managing data (storage and data transfer) Running Dragonfly in the Cloud -Cloud Computing-Instance Lifecycle -Getting Setup for Cloud -Getting your data into the cloud -When can you start? The Webinar is followed by a Q&A with Dragonfly users. Index and topic of the questions:28:03 28:03 Q-Is the pricing/licensing for VizServ the same as the cloud? 28:57 Q-Is cloud computing just through Amazon? is there a google service in the future? 29:54 Q-My facility uses a single node Dragonfly Pro license. Can we give our users the license information so they can independently use Dragonfly on the cloud if they prefer to do that? 30:33 Q-Is there any cost associated with generating (not downloading) data while processing on the cloud? 32:22 Q-How about latency ? I mean that I click the button and how quick action or redraw occur? 33:40 Q-Can you have “guests” watching data handling / processing in your session? 34:28 Q-Is the image quality same as using local computer? 35:16 Q-How about student’s license? 35:44 Q-Is there a breakdown of what analysis/filter methods are CPU based vs GPU based, to help decide what type of instance to launch? 37:09 Q-Is there an educational discount for Amazon cloud? 37:53 Q-I have two Dragonfly Pro licenses. When I processed my data at local workstation, it can takes hours to do some segmentation training. Will it be the same when process from the cloud? 39:26 Q-Follow up from previous - so image comes “compressed” to our monitors. Can you turn this option off when “grey-level" calibration is critical (e.g. working on calibrated monitors for medical imaging)? 40:19 Q-How about images security? 41:33 Q-So if my lab has one pro license, but I am using a free non-commercial CD-key at home, can I use my free license on the cloud ? *Questions below text answered only : Q-Is it necessary for every user to have their own operating system and stored? A-You can have a common operating system configured as a template and the users can use a computer based on that template Q-Are there any preset recommendations (RAM, CPU etc.) when I use the cloud? How would I know apriori what computer should I “buy”? A-We will provide on our web site instruction that will be based on the size of the data set you want to process. There are preset configurations that you can use. We typically base it on the size of the data set you will use. Dragonfly and Dragonfly Cloud, ORS’ flagship products, provide innovators from leading universities or industries, an advanced machine learning and neural networks based segmentation engine. Dragonfly's quantification tools then provide powerful options for counting, measuring, and characterizing image features, such as pores, fibers, grains, and much more. Its user-friendly experience translates its powerful and accurate quantitative findings in high-impact visuals. The ability to build fully automated workflows also enables reproducible results. #DragonflyCloud #deeplearning #dragonfly #microscopy #imagesegmentation #microCT #FIBSEM #scientificimaging #electronmicroscopy #imageprocessing
