Firing Up the Diesel Engine - Episode 268 - Acorn to Arabella: Journey of a Wooden Boat
The auxiliary diesel engine on this wooden sailboat is a 40 horsepower Nanni diesel, and we run it for the very first time in this video. After dropping the diesel in, aligning it well enough for now, remotely-mounting its fuel and oil filters, and adding an oil change pump, also remotely installed, it was good to hear this diesel roar to life with ease. Only a couple days left to get your launch shirt: https://www.bonfire.com/official-laun... We also put a lot of holes in the boat (through hulls), Kyle gets super close to the llamas, we get a short peek at the bronze machining that Joe has been doing, Satchel gets the depth sounder transducer set up (another hole in the boat), Steve begins to put together the cockpit coamings, and there's a personal note from Steve at the end. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a wooden boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve started as an amateur wooden boat builder building a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that classic wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY boatbuilding project will continue well past launch, when he and the crew will travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interested in supporting/helping here are a few ways: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/how-t...
