O menino rezador de Monte Santo

Helenita Monte de Hollanda, a doctor and researcher of popular culture, brings us this week the incredible story of the praying boy from Monte Santo (BA). Rafael learned his first prayers from his octogenarian grandmother, a midwife and renowned healer in the district of Pedra Branca. However, the boy was not satisfied with what he had learned to cure the evil eye and an ailment known as "sun and dew," which causes headaches. He then sought advice from his 96-year-old grandmother's cousin. He was told that he should turn to his patron saint. Rafael's request was answered by the Archangel Raphael. In this video you will also find the text of the following prayers: sun and dew, fallen fontanelle, erysipelas, and impetigo. We thank the Brazilian Popular Culture Channel for allowing the reproduction of the video.
