Also watch our tour of Bourton on the Water -    • BOURTON ON THE WATER Cotswolds England   When visiting The Slaughters in the Cotswolds you'll find the area split between Lower Slaughter and Upper Slaughter. Rather than lump both of the villages into each other I've visited each village separately so here is my walking tour of Upper Slaughter. A quiet village and with so much beauty, Upper Slaughter was enjoying the sunshine as I explored this famous Cotswolds tourist attraction and residential village. Upper Slaughter is in Gloucestershire, 4 miles south west of Stow-on-the-Wold. Nearby places include Lower Slaughter and Bourton-on-the-Water. The village is built on both banks of the River Eye, and the walking tour takes you down to the river and beyond. With historic buildings on a grassy slope, Upper Slaughter leads gently down to the River Eye which trickles gently through the village. Visit the Square which is the heart of the village, surrounded by homes built using the honey coloured Cotswold Stone, and have a look for the tiny methodist chapel and the Grade II listed Old School House next to the church. The only place to eat in Upper Slaughter is the Lords Of The Manor hotel. You can also stay in this hotel if you fancy stopping in a plush hotel in the Cotswolds for a break.
